HIGH QUALITY HOUSES ARE MADE OF THE BEST MATERIALS

At Astel we keep the technical quality of our houses to the highest standard. According to the needs and wishes of our clients, but also the purpose of the building, we can provide different high-quality options regarding the timber log profiles and different types of wall, but also windows and doors.

Timber log profiles for the walls

Different types of buildings require different types of wall materials to provide necessary structural integrity and also sufficient thermal resistance. For better thermal resistance we produce wall constructions which are insulated from the outside or from the inside. The rule of thumb usually is – a thicker wall means better insulation and better thermal stability. The thermal stability is presented as the U-value (lower = better thermal stability).

For our garden houses, log cabins and element houses, we can provide the following log profiles and insulated walls:

28mm log

U-value = N / A

34mm log

U-value = N / A

44mm log

U-value = N / A

70mm massive log

U-value = 1,28 W/m²K

90mm massive log

U-value = 1,04 W/m²K

88mm laminated log

U-value = 1,107 W/m²K

114mm laminated log

U-value = 0,900 W/m²K

134mm laminated log

U-value = 0,777 W/m²K

165mm laminated log

U-value = 0,647 W/m²K

202mm laminated log

U-value = 0,540 W/m²K

70mm wallbeam + 100mm insulation + 22mm boards

U-value = 0,30 W/m²K

90mm wallbeam + 100mm insulation + 22mm boards

U-value = 0,25 W/m²K

70mm wallbeam + 100mm insulation + 70mm wallbeam

U-value = 0,26 W/m²K

70mm wallbeam + 120mm insulation + 70mm wallbeam

U-value = 0,23 W/m²K

70mm wallbeam + 150mm insulation + 70mm wallbeam

U-value = 0,20 W/m²K

90mm wallbeam + 100mm insulation + 90mm wallbeam

U-value = 0,23 W/m²K

90mm wallbeam + 120mm insulation + 90mm wallbeam

U-value = 0,20 W/m²K

Types of corners

Traditional squared log houses have a cross-corner joint, which means that the ends of the squared logs extend further from the joining point of 2 walls forming the shape of the cross. While it is the most common and wide-spread corner type of squared log houses, sometimes the regulations of certain urban areas do not allow the external cross-corner.

The solution is the “city-corner” which gives a squared log house the look of a house with a wooden facade. As the laminated logs have a very small shrinking rate, we usually use laminated logs for city-corner solutions to provide better integrity and stability to the wall constructions.
